Things you will need before you can ride legally:
Provisional Licence
Issued by the DVLA for £38. To apply, use form D1 from the post office. A provisional licence is not required if you have a full UK driving licence gained before 2001. Full Licences acquired before 2001 allow the licence holder to ride up to 50cc bikes with no CBT.
CBT Training
Once passed, this 1 day course entitles you to ride up to a 125cc bike for two years. Costing £95 unless bought in conjunction with the Direct Access Course in which case only £50.
Motorcycle Theory Test
A written test that costs £20 to sit. This test is included as part of the Direct Access Course.
Restricted Licence Training
This course entitles those who pass to drive a 33BHP (Brake Horse Power) Motorcycle. When driving under this licence, larger bikes must be restricted to 33BHP for two years. After two years this licence is upgraded automatically to a Full Licence, and the restrictor can be removed.
